Anodised Aluminium Shelving System
Anodised Aluminium Shelving System for the Growing of Mushrooms.
LUMAN-Shelves is a precision engineered anodized aluminium shelf system for mushroom growing. These Shelves have been supplied to mushroom growers in Ireland, the U.K., East and West Europe, Thailand, Australia, Canada, the U.S.A., and Central America.
Why Aluminium?
In the past, when Phase 1 mushroom growing compost was filled, shelving was made of aluminium. With the introduction of Phase 2 and Phase 3 compost, galvanised shelves became popular because of the lower cost.
The corrosion resistance of some galvanised shelves was poor and life expectancy was 10-15 years. The better quality galvanised mushroom shelving became expensive. In 2007 we undertook the design of a high-quality mushroom shelving system for the Irish Market and the result is LUMAN-Shelves.
LUMAN-Shelves is an Anodised Aluminium Shelving System – a cost effective product, developed for the Irish market. While aluminium mill finished can withstand the corrosive nature of mushroom compost this anodised product also resists staining and discolouration.
Why Anodized?
Aluminium mushroom shelving is normally supplied mill finished, but the LUMAN product has gone one step further and anodized the exposed parts, i.e Sideboards, Endboards and Legs. Anodizing is done for cosmetic appearances as it eliminates staining or discolouration, – a clean look is beneficial in keeping with Food Production Standards.

Nicolon Growing Nets
The combination of strength, limited narrowing effect and limited lengthening, assure that Nicolon growing nets will perform as planned for a long time. The open structure and monofil yarns make sure these nets can be cleaned properly, which improves hygiene and prevents contamination.
By using the latest technology, Nicolon is capable of limiting the stretch and shrink to the ultimate, minimum without causing the nets to become stiff and unmanageable.
All sizes available in stock.
Nicolon Casing Nets
Adding casing soil or supplement to the mushroom compost can be done using a net similar to a growing net. The difference in this case is that these nets are fabricated exactly to the width between the sideboards and that they are used as a conveyor belt. The nets are therefore always twice as long as the length of the shelve. A winch pulls a little wagon over the bed to the end and by the rolling effect of the net the casing soil or supplement is added as a layer to the compost. The filling machine manages the thickness of the layer.
